THE RESURRECTION IS PROOF THAT HE IS THE STANDARD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

The Bible says in the book of Acts chapter 17 that God has determined a day in which He will judge the world against the righteousness of Jesus.  The proof of this coming judgement is that God has raised Him from the dead.  The bad news for us is that no matter how hard we try, we are unable meet the standard God has set in Jesus Christ.

So, Why Do We Celebrate Easter?  There are so many reasons!  Specifically, for those who stop trying to please God on their own and believe on Jesus as the Way God has provided.

The first reason to celebrate is that

JESUS PROVIDES PEACE

Believers have this assurance. The Bible says,

Romans 5:10 (NASB95) For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

When Jesus bled and died on the cross, believers were made right with God (Justification).  When God raised Jesus from the dead, it proved that believers are no longer enemies, but at peace with God!

A second reason is that

JESUS SAVES FOREVER

The Bible teaches (Rom. 8:34) that Jesus’ standard of righteousness is the standard against which we are all judged, but it is also His standard of righteousness that saves believers!  How amazing is that?  It doesn’t stop there.  The Bible also says,

Hebrews 7:25 (NASB95) … [Jesus] is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

Jesus is at the right hand of God, in his complete perfection and makes a perfect appeal to God on our behalf. We could not do that for ourselves! Only Jesus does that for every single person that believes on Him!  Not only can He save, but He does so forever, because He lives forever.

A third reason to celebrate is that

JESUS PROVIDES HOPE

Because Jesus lives, believers have hope beyond this life.  I don’t mean hope as a fanciful wish, but hope as an expectation.  The Bible says that believers are born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, (1 Peter 1:3 NASB).

Believers are not born to a hope of death, but the hope of life. This hope is made certain by the fact that God raised Jesus from the dead!  The reason we have this hope, to look beyond the grave and the temporary, terrible struggles that this life offers is because we lift our eyes and fix them on the Living Savior.

What about you? Have you ever considered Who Jesus is and whether His claims are true?  Jesus, in His righteousness, died in the place of sinners.  He was raised from the dead and lives forever.

  • Because Jesus lives, we can have peace with God!
  • Because Jesus lives, we can be changed from our sinful nature into the glorious, holy likeness of God’s only Son.
  • Because Jesus lives we can be with Him and reflect His glory forever.

Will you believe on Him today?
